chestnuts roasting on an open fire…..

As the climate around us begins to shift (in Texas, more often than not) so does our inspirations. Here, at The Starving Gypsy, one of the main components that frames our dishes is the desire to create an experience like no other. This is why our Winter Season menu focuses on bringing the heat when it comes to the flavor profiles, cultural culinary highlights and the execution. Yes, that means there will be at least one portion of your meal that will be prepared with a live fire demonstration.

timothy, where’ve you been?

It’s fall I guess……

Our head chef is all about the artistic and weird. This is why Tim Burton is one of her favorite creators. Every year, we’re forced to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas so that shows you how much of a fan she is. However, in conjunction with this, we feature a Tim Burton themed menu for the Fall season that incorporates all those great movies he’s made and some really dope food as the inspiration.

A collaboration between chef Dinah Blackburn and interior designer Lee Rainwater, Hunter is where East Austin returns to the Old West. Styled like the saloons of yore, here you can sip cactus wine and enjoy the robust taste of farm-to-table American fare without the frills.
